How to manage serial numbers in marvin

Serial numbers uniquely identify a product, and this is one of the features you'll find in marvin.

To enable it, go to Preferences and tick the serial number option.

When creating the product record, indicate that it will be tracked by serial number. Then, whenever you record a purchase or sale, you'll need to enter the serial number, so you can quickly and efficiently track where the product came from and where it went.

The benefits of serial number management:

Unique identification: each serial number is unique, identifying a specific item. This is crucial to tell each product apart from others, even of the same model or type.

Traceability: serial numbers let you track a product throughout its life, from manufacture and distribution to end use. This makes quality control, maintenance and even recall management easier if there are defects.

Warranty and technical support: the serial number is often used to validate a product's warranty and helps companies provide the right technical support.

Security: for valuable items, such as electronic devices and high-value equipment, serial numbers help protect against theft and counterfeiting. They are also often used for proof of ownership and can be useful in cases of theft or fraud.
